Pemmican Pete, the buffalo riding pioneer (or more accuratly a buffalo skinner) rises above the entrance to the Regina Fair Grounds, and is the official mascot for the annual summer exhibition “Buffalo Days”. This urban signage is slightly contentious, referencing the [“pile of bones”](http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/2/24/A_pile_of_buffalo_bones_stacked_for_shipment_to_Saskatoon,_young_man_posed_in_front.jpg/205px-A_pile_of_buffalo_bones_stacked_for_shipment_to_Saskatoon,_young_man_posed_in_front.jpg&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regina,_Saskatchewan&usg=__6nbkHAaKZX-dI1-MnpxmRT5i54M=&h=151&w=205&sz=10&hl=en&start=22&um=1&tbnid=L8ySZsI1cKgONM:&tbnh=77&tbnw=105&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpile%2Bof%2Bbones%2Bregina%26start%3D21%26ndsp%3D21%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN) days in the city, when buffalo were being exterminated to force the indigenous population to settle, and symbolizes “how different histories collide and are shrouded in forgetfulness”\*. The figure has also drifted into some obscurity, no one knows who did this piece or when it was commissioned/installed.
