"Eleanor studied in Halifax and the Avoncroft Pottery, Worcester, England with Geoffrery Whiting, a disciple of Bernard Leach. In 1955 she and Foster established their own pottery studio in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, where they were highly influential as teachers as well as makers. Their work is included in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, where a retrospective of their work was presented in 1996."
