On a visit to the Lindsay co-op, the Grimsby builders were inspired by the 4-bedroom house plan. In the co-op spirit, the plan was shared with them. In the Grimsby build it came to be known as “The Lindsay.” The sharing of information was a directive within the homebuilding co-operative movement. As the Ottawa group shared their guide to co-operative housing, those who came after would share their ideas, and in some cases heard earned lessons. Bill Forbes, an all-round handyman, recalls visiting the Sherbrien site, before he began building with the Lakedale co-op.
