This is the first helmet designed for the skateboarding. Part of the Cooper brands’ attempt to broaden their product line by applying their knowledge in protective head gear to new sports. Skateboarding was enjoying a major revival at the time (urethane wheels, banana boards, team Zephyr) and the market was unclear on which brands would lead to success and which would fail.
