ConStellation Special Edition

[Stella](http://www.chezstella.org/) is a Montreal-based community group run by, and for, sex-workers. Founded in 1995, Stella’s goals are to “provide support and information to sex-workers so that they may live in safety and with dignity, to sensitize and educate the public about sex work and the realities faced by sex workers, to fight discrimination against sex workers, and to promote the decriminalization of sex work” ([Stella website](http://www.chezstella.org/)).
One of Stella’s outputs is a bi-annual magazine called [ConStellation](http://www.chezstella.org/stella/?q=en/constellation). ConStellation features design, illustration and content provided almost exclusively by sex-workers. Acting as a forum for those in the industry, ConStellation’s subject matter can range from the brutally pragmatic (bad tricks and assaulters lists) to the beautifully whimsical (any one of the illustrations, poems, or short stories).
In 2006, Stella released a special edition of ConStellation for the XVIth International AIDS Conference. Designed by [Le Bureau Officiel](http://www.lebureauofficiel.com) and featuring illustrations by [Seripop](http://www.seripop.com/home.html) (both having worked on Stella’s groundbreaking Dope Guide – a snapshot of which is available below, but expect a full write-up soon), this special edition of ConStellation is edgy, raw, informative, and beautiful. In short, a true testament to the innovative and meaningful design work that happens on the margins of our society.
